These are the only pair of earrings like this I have ever come across by Bernard -such a rare pair of statement earrings, late 1920s early 1930s. The style may look familiar-it is a kind of Victorian design, with the vivid green enamel resembling majolica ware pottery. The style too, is very Victorian in its theme, with a leaping dolphin to each earring and bubbles which almost resemble flowers. They are both signed “SILVER BI”.
I love that this pair has mirror-image dolphins so that there is a definite way to wear them -either dolphins facing towards your face or else, away. They are suspended from a studded top section, set with a clear paste. They still retain their old screw back fittings but obviously you could change them if preferred.
Some slight loss of enamel here and there as you can see, however, this seems to add to the antique Victorian majolica look-shabby chic. Patina to both earrings, which you could polish if preferred too. A rare pair of earrings in such a vivid green enamel. Each earring measures approx 6cm in drop, including the paste stones at the top. They are large and statement things.
I shall post in a new gift box by complimentary tracked and signed post. Boxes in images are not included. Thank you.
