Description

A lovely and very unusual pair of antique carved carnelian earrings dating from the c1900 Victorian era. They have been rewired onto gold wires stamped as 9ct so that they are ready to wear easily. The images really do not do these delicious earrings justice as carnelian is quite tricky to photograph. They have lovely detailing and each earring shows two flowers.

The first flower is an open five-petalled carved carnelian flower, which suspends from the top of the wire at the lobe. The second flower is an arum lily which suspends from gold links set under the initial flower. Such lovely quality and I love that the second flower adds a further element of 3D to the earrings. When you lift the flower slightly, you see inside that funnel and to the gold “stamen” at the centre. If you love lilies, then these are going to make you smile.

The carnelian is a rich orange with some lighter and darker elements; the four stones are well-cut and have a beautiful gloss to the finish. Such tactile things. Of course, they dangle and move fabulously when worn. Each earring is approx 4cm in height and both are in excellent order. The hooks are stamped as 9ct gold.

I shall send in a new gift box by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International Tracked and Signed. Boxes in the images are not included-thank you.
