A simply gorgeous and impressive antique Victorian bangle, c1900, in silver gilt, which shimmers in its beautiful amethystness! Large, sparkly natural amethysts are graduated in size along the display section of this robust silver gilt bangle. The largest stone measures approx 10mm by 6mm so be assured – they are eye catching stones!
There are 9 graduated amethysts, each is set next to a pair of tiny seed pearls in their own settings. The amethysts range a little in colour from one or two pale lilac stones to a sort of mid-range plum. Obviously it looks a little darker on the arm, without light flooding in from behind the settings. The amethysts have been tested and all are in keeping with being original to this bangle.
There is a three bar structure around the bangle and the clasp and hinge still work beautifully. The safety chain is still in place too. The amethyst section measures approx 6.2cm so runs right along the front of your arm, making quite the beautiful, purple statement! The inside diameter of the bangle from right to left is approx 6cm. Considering its age, it is a generous size.
It has a had a light buff with a gold polishing cloth but it would polish further if that is what you prefer. It is a beautiful thing and becoming much rarer to find with large stones like this. I shall send in a gift box by signed for delivery. Thank you!
