Description

A wonderfully rare c1930 Arts and Crafts bracelet by Bernard Instone. It is a book piece, featured on p155 of “Bernard Instone Designer and Craftsman: the art of a jeweller” by Tracy Henriksen. The Instone clasp is large and so very beautiful, with its mix of navette-shaped jade cabochons and the two faceted pink tourmalines. Green and pink always makes such a lovely combination.

There are three rows of jade beads. I was informed by its previous owner that the stones are jadeite jade but it is always tricky to tell the difference between that and nephrite, so I sell simply as jade. The bracelets colours echo the Art Deco era, when green jade really was at its height of popularity. It is a beauty of a piece , especially as it is very difficult to find Bernard bracelets. You will enjoy wearing this I’m sure.

In pleasing condition, all stones present and correct. The three strands are all slightly different lengths, which is because of the age of the piece and a certain stretch of the threads, as you would expect. It wears beautifully and is such a joyful design.

The clasp measures approx 2.7cm in height and the length of the bracelet is approx 18.5cm (7.25 inches). No marks but, as mentioned, a recognised Bernard Instone piece. From a private collection.

I will send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary courier internationally or else Special Delivery within the UK. Thank you.
