Description

A wonderfully unique, hand-crafted Arts and Crafts piece by Bernard Instone from the late 1920s to 1930 era. It is an inspired piece of design, which show the influences of John Paul Cooper and the Gaskins, under whom Bernard studied at one time or another. The naturalistic, hand-tooled leaves are draped across the silver framework of both the top and bottom sections of this sureté pin / jabot pin and are dotted with tiny gold ball detailing.

I love this pin, for many reasons, but not least because of the striking greens of the amazonite and chrysoprase cabochons. The carefully executed layout of the leaves and the gold balls shows a creative master’s hand. The small flower underneath the large amazonite stone is very reminiscent of those in some of Cooper’s pieces. If you turn this beautiful pin over, you can immediately see the strong silver curved lines of Bernard’s c1930 work. It is neat, tidy and in super condition. I have never seen another of these and I imagine it is a unique piece of work. I will also attach a photo of the other Bernard pins that are being sold separately. If you wish to buy more than one-please drop me a line and I can work out some discount for you.

The pin measures approx 6.7cm in length. In museum quality condition, with some patina which you may wish to polish if you prefer your silver bright and shiny. A fabulous, top quality hand-made Bernard piece.

I shall post by special delivery within the UK or else by express courier internationally. Please note the boxes in the images are not included, however I will send in a box to protect the piece. Thank you.
