Description
A sensationally beautiful museum quality piece of Arts and Crafts jewellery c1930 by Bernard Instone. Most likely a one-off piece it has been crafted in sterling silver with cornflower blue sapphires and blue Ceylon moonstones – it is a fabulous statement in blue and an important example of his work. In pristine condition, clearly having been cosseted-it actually looks like it has never been worn. Truly a statement piece of large proportions and a top drawer piece of jewellery.
Rhapsody in blues with the highly adularescent Ceylon moonstones- the central stone is large at approx 2.4cm in length. It is flanked to either side by a smaller oval moonstone. In between the typical draped Instone leaves (the longer hand-tooled variety, as well as the stockier leaves with the central veins) there are six round, faceted cornflower blue and super sparkly sapphires. With the striking blue shimmers and sparkles, this is a very special piece of work and a superlative Instone piece. Wonderful to find examples of Bernard’s work with precious stones too.
If you study the verso, you see the solid, clean curved linear structures, indicative of an excellent Instone piece. The brooch also retains its original pin (straight too!), rollover safety catch and sterling silver safety chain. In excellent condition, literally as if it was just made yesterday-it’s a beauty! The pin measures approx 6.2cm in length and approx 2.5cm wide.
I shall post by special delivery within the UK or else by express courier internationally. Please note the boxes in the images are not included, however I will send in a box to protect the piece. Thank you.
