A Victorian / Edwardian carved shell cameo in a stamped 9ct gold frame and with safety chain attachment. It looks like it is a likeness for the reek Goddess Hera, who represents marriage, women and family. She is said to protect women during childbirth, especially. This cameo brooch pleasingly, has the old English Edwardian plaque of “9ct” on it and also has some etched lettering, numbers by the craftsperson or perhaps a dedication to someone? It reads “Gb 16” which I believe refers to the someone’s initials and the year, 1916.
This gold brooch measures approx 4.2cm in height by approx 3.5cm wide, including the pin.
In excellent condition, it gives you the chance to own a lovely stamped gold cameo at an affordable price (with a safety chain-hugely important as these are fragile things).
I shall send with Tracked and Signed post, free of charge. Please note the boxes in the photos are for display only but I will provide safe housing in a new gift box. Thank you.
