Description

This is a wonderful antique pendant crafted throughout in gold and set with fabulous flat-cut garnets on foil. It dates from the 1800s, the late Georgian to early Victorian era. The foiled settings give such an extra depth and liveliness to these vibrant flat-cut garnets. The design is a Maltese Cross (8-pointed cross) which was favoured historically in jewellery because of its symbolism of the virtues and values respected  in life.

These rich and lively garnets shift from red wine to scarlet red and they do reflect the light wonderfully. She is such a sparkling jewel. The flower cluster of garnets set to the centre represents the everlasting nature of the love. There are additional single round garnets set at the N,E and W positions, with a cluster of three garnets set at the bottom of the pendant. A gold ball completes that feature. Four of the slightly smaller flat-cut pendant have a finishing filial in gold. It is a well-considered jewel, with each of these vibrant stones set individually by hand in these nipped gold settings.

Closed-backed in gold  with a gold bale, through which you could add your own chain. Gold tests as a minimum of 9 to 10ct. In pleasing condition with some wear in line with her age. There are no chips or significant defects.

The pendant measures approx 4.6cm by 3.5cm. The listing is for the pendant only.

I shall send in a new presentation box by complimentary tracked and signed within the UK or else by international express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
