Description
A rare and early ring, that has the design features of Bernard’s earlier pieces, from the 1920s. The unusual leaf shape shoulders do not appear on many rings at all so it is lovely to find them here. This ring is a book piece, being illustrated and documented in the book “Bernard Instone Designer and Craftsman; the art of a jeweller” page 120.
The large, faceted amethyst is a beauty, as you can see, it is oval emerald cut, showing those beautiful stepped lines one associates with emerald cut stones. It throws the light around superbly. The silver coils and overlaid gold forget-me-nots design was perhaps the first motif Bernard incorporated into his jewellery in the 1920s. This is a rare ring and a wonderfully statement example of Bernard’s hand wrought earlier work.
In particularly pleasing condition, the ring measures as approx UK K.5 (approx US 5.5). A lovely thing to have.
I will send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary international courier or else Special Delivery within the UK. Thank you.
