A truly exquisite antique 18ct gold Art Deco ring from the late 1920s to 1930 era, which is a wonderful design. This openwork design reminds me of a panel of lace; so intricate and yet with stand-out sparkly old and rose-cut mine diamonds making it is such an appealing ring. With a total minimum diamonds weight of 1.50ct. The 1.50ct is a conservative estimate given by my jeweller, as the stones are assessed in situ in their settings. It may well be up to 1.80ct. It is an impressive ring which decorates the finger in such a glorious way, as I hope you can see in the images.
I love the hand-worked nature of the structure of the gallery. Even the face of the ring shows the jeweller’s hand rather than a machine. I am pretty sure this may be a unique piece so once she’s gone, she’s gone. I believe she is English, as there are remnants of the old UK hallmarks for 18ct gold on the inside of the yellow gold band. I have never come across this exact design before but I have to say it is so evocative of the sophistication and clean lines of the Art Deco era. There is the usual Art Deco juxtaposition of shapes-here we have a central old-cut diamond in a square-shaped bezel setting. It is an impressive stone and does have quite some height to it, rising a significant way from the level of the bezel setting. The main stone is flanked at N and S positions by a round old-cut diamond, also in a bezel setting. To E and W positions there are two further round old-cut diamonds in bezel settings. There are a further 22 old-cut diamonds of various sizes set in the 18ct white gold rectangular face of the ring.
When you wear this beauty, you appreciate that there is complete coverage of the ring by diamonds and you get such brilliance because of this. The stones are super sparkly, especially now the ring has been professionally polished. It is so ready to adorn a lucky soul’s finger and to see the world again. It really is a sensational ring.
The diamonds are bright, sparkly and well-matched. As you can see, they are also of a good size to be seen individually. The design is pure decadence, whilst being tasteful at the same time. You simply cannot help studying this beauty every time she goes on your finger.
The ring measures approx as a UK size N (US approx size 6.5). The face of the ring measures approx 2.5cm by 2cm so it makes a fine statement. In pleasing condition and ready to wear or else to gift to a lucky recipient. Who would not love this fabulous ring! Jeweller’s valuation is for £4,400, although in reality, I have seen these sell for very much more than that, especially with a good weight of diamonds and sparkling so impressively.
