Description

This is such a lovely English hand wrought Arts and Crafts necklace c1920s. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was a little Sibyl Dunlop piece, as it bears numerous features of her work. There just isn’t quite enough evidence for me to formally attribute it. It is such a sweet design.

The three long amethysts form part of the main design, along with three oval Ceylon blue moonstones. I hope you can see on the images that the moonstones on this necklace are very adularescent and flash blue easily. The amethyst are a pale purple colour, with lots of interesting inclusions.  All of the stones are wonderfully domed in their settings.

There are the usual (Sibyl) silver balls set between each of the stones to complete the structure of the main part of the pendant. There is a lovely A&C drop, adding movement to the pendant. You can see a tiny silver ball set at each side of the link connecting the drop to the pendant. This is very much in keeping with the Arts and Crafts pieces from the 1900-1930s era. The chain is most likely the original silver trace chain, although there has been a catch replacement at some point. The chain measures approx 45.5cm (17.75 inches) in length and the height of the pendant is approx 5cm. In pleasing condition.

I will send by complimentary international tracked and signed or else by Special Delivery within the UK-thank you. II will send her in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are not included, thank you.
