Description
A fully signed Murrle Bennett pendant c1900 of large proportions, which is formed with a circular plaque with a type of cut-out, lattice work design in hammered silver. It is bold and incredibly pretty. Lovely to see a larger, statement MB pendant, as sometimes they can be really quite diminutive.
I adore the enamel work on this design, with the forget-me-not blue flowers, dotted at their centre with a tiny dab of yellow. In between each of the six flowers spaced around the circumference of the pendant, are clusters of three leaves, also enamelled, this time in green. The enamelling is all intact and in excellent condition.
In the centre of the lattice work circle is a round blister pearl in a mille grain setting. In true MB fashion, an oval blister pearl is suspended below the circle, which finishes the whole pendant off in such a balanced way. Both pearls are housed in solid gold settings.
There is a large bale so this would take a much thicker chain, if you so desired. I will include the chain you see pictured. The pendant is clearly marked on the reverse, as you would completely expect, with a “950” for the quality of silver which is a higher grade than sterling and the “MBo” maker’s mark.
The pendant measures approx 5.4cm in height, including the bale. The chain measures approx 41cm (a touch over 16 inches) in length.
Please note I will send in a new gift box as the box in the images is for display only. I will send by express international courier or else by special delivery within the UK. Thank you.
