Description

A lovely c1930-1940 moonstone necklace which has a part riviere design and graduated adularescent moonstones. I adore the dual nature of the moonstone, clear under certain lights and shimmering blue under others, particularly when shown over dark cloth or fabric. 14 stones altogether.

This is a sweet design with spectacle-set stones crafted by hand, set (more unusually) vertically, each moonstone connected by a pair of links at the top. Each moonstone has its own character, some more rounded than others some flatter, some bluer than others….all natural differences.

There are 14 moonstones in all and there is slight graduation in size from the largest moonstone in the centre to the smaller at the end of the row on each side. Nothing symmetrical about this organic piece-even the number of stones to each side differs. I would wear as is, although if you do wish for more symmetry, you could have one stone to the left removed.

The central stone measures approx 1.2cm in height and the wearable length of the chain is approx 46cm (18 inches). It has a tiny European silver mark, which may be a Dutch silver mark. The black mannequin is slightly smaller than life size so please look at the hand images for scale. These antique beauties are more petite, understated pieces.

I shall send in a new gift box by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by international tracked. All boxes in the images are not included. Thank you.
