A beautiful piece from the Art Deco era, c1930. Unlike any I have come across before, in that some of the sterling links are solidly connected and set with sparkling marcasites. The large pear-shaped amazonite at the bottom of the drop has a halo of marcasites and it elevates the whole piece tremendously. It is a beautiful necklace in fabulous condition.
I adore the two-part drop to the necklace, with the upper oval amazonite set horizontally, bezel set and leading nicely to the matching amazonite spacers, one to each side on the chain. A n elongated, solid link is used to separate the top stones and that has also been set with sparkling marcasites.
Even the fetter chain is a little different to what you may usually find, as there are rectangular links separated by three round links each time and all are “crimped” in nature. There is a high level of detailing in every element.
All stones present and correct. Amazonite is purported to be a heart-healing stone, that also balances the heart and the mind. You are able to easier speak your truth with its protection or so they say. These are lovely sea green amazonite stones with the typical flecking/marbling you find in amazonite specimens.
The drop pendant measures approx 5.7cm and the wearable length of the necklace is approx 43.5cm (17.25 inches) in length. No marks but I believe, because of the style and quality, it may have come from Pforzheim in Germany.
