Description
A rare and early hand-crafted ring, that has the design features of Bernard’s earlier pieces, from the 1920s. The small, hand-tooled leaves that sing Bernard’s work, are draped over, not only the face of the ring, but also over each panel at the shoulders of the ring. You get that lovely design on three sides so there is always something to look at, no matter from which angle. Each leaf placed at a naturalistic angle and the layers built up, so you get a real sense of the beautiful blue chalcedony nestling among the leaves and clusters of berries. A fabulous Bernard find and a design I have not come across before.
I love the clearly hand-crafted element, which you can also see to the verso. The stone is in excellent order, a lovely hue of hyacinth blue and is bezel set. It is quite a statement ring and the face measures approx 2cm by 2cm.
In particularly pleasing condition, the ring measures as approx UK N.5 (approx US 7). Normal wear to the hand-tooled lines on the outer leaves at the shoulders….where you would completely expect. A little patina remains which would polish away if you preferred. Stamped as Sterling on the inside of the band.
I will send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary international courier or else Special Delivery within the UK. Thank you.
