Description
This is a lovely, original 1920s matching pair consisting of an Arts and Crafts pendant with a teardrop agate stone, decorated with a foliate and grape design, along with its matching long, sautoir chain in silver with blue agate beads. It is so lovely to find a matching set, as usually they do become separated over the years.
The pear shaped blue agate stone has lots of different features, including a transparent section with little glimmers visible when you move the stone around. The blue tones are mid blue-like sodalite / lapis / Swiss lapis. The six large beads are an excellent match to the main stone. They are spaced in three sets of pairs as you move up the sautoir chain. You can really see with this design, how low on the body the main pendant was worn on a sautoir chain in that era.
The silver cap decoration (often referred to as an Amy Sandheim design or at least based on one of her designs )has hand-tooled leaves draped across the stone and hanging bunches of grapes. The silver and blue do look fresh and clean together. In all-original condition, it is ready to pop over your head and to wear. The only thing to note is a tiny nibble to one end of one of the bead spacers, which is usual for where the end fittings are attached. Absolutely not noticeable unless you scrutinise.
The pendant measures approx 6.7cm in height and the chain measures approx 102cm (40 inches). I shall send in a new necklace presentation box by complimentary special delivery within the UK and by courier to global destinations. Thank you- box in the images is for display only. Ref:csj
