Description
This is a rare ring, still nestled in what looks like the original Georgian / Victorian ring box, made from leather and silk. The ring is European and dates from the 19th Century. It is stamped “18K” so I know it is not English- it also tests as minimum of 18ct gold. The three stones that are set in a line across the face of the ring are emerald paste. Again, quite typical in Georgian and Victorian pieces to find paste stones.
An attractive ring which uses flattened gold rather than a cylindrical ring. The edges of the band are fluted in a sort of pie-crust finish, which is so unusual. There is a maker’s mark, on the outside of the band, next to the “18K” mark and it looks like “T S”. Many French rings have the stamps to the outside of the band so I’m not sure if this is where she was created. It is a very comfortable ring to wear because of its flattened design as it seems to just hug the finger.
The antique ring box is a little beauty, with its metallic hook clasp and its glossy red leather outer and cream silk interior. The ring measures as approx UK size N.5 / O (US size 7). In pleasing condition, and expected light wear to the pastes.
I will send by international tracked and signed or else by Special Delivery within the UK. The box is included in the sale-let’s keep them together! Thank you!
