A vibrant and eye-catching antique brooch which has been tested as jadeite jade. I am assuming this is from the c1930s and it would have been imported from China. A large brooch of a rounded rectangular form, it features a fruit and foliate design.
A striking piece of jadeite has been used which shows striking streaks of bright green set among the paler, almost white sections. The mount is silver and is wonderfully understated from the front, with just those 6 tiny silver claws visible. It really allows the colours and designs of the jadeite to take centre piece. It is quite a large example, at approx 4.5cm wide by approx 3cm in height.
It retains its rollover safety catch and is stamped simply CHINA to the reverse. This would make a beautiful adornment to a collar or to a dress. I will post in a new gift box (boxes in the images are for display only) by complimentary tracked and signed. Thank you.
