Description

A glorious antique Edwardian solid 14ct gold hinged bangle with assay marks for Prague. These stunning Bohemian garnets are so rich and velvety and they would have been crafted into this wonderful bangle in the c1900-1910 era. I adore that the large, juicy garnets running in a line on each side from the central flower motif, are cushion cut stones….just so very beautiful. The cut adds that extra touch of opulence to the piece.

The flower feature is delicious too, with its five petals, central rose-cut diamond and that lovely little stalk motif. It makes such a change to have a central feature rather than a simple line of garnets. There is a tiny chased detail in the gold on the section near the stones, which is a typical feature of this era. The assay mark for Prague as well as the stamp for 14ct solid gold is on the tiny tongue section that fits into the clasp.
The bracelet also retains its original gold safety chain for extra security when you are wearing this sumptuous piece. If you look at the detailing when you focus on the side profile, you will see the expert skills that have made this such a robust and quality bangle. Those tiny claws around the dark, velvety garnets look so beautiful.

The inside measurement is approx 17cm (approx 6.7 inches). The bangle weighs approx 14.5g. In pleasing condition with a tiny dot (could be a natural pit to the stone) on one flower petal and a nibble on one of the edges to a cushion cut garnet, visible under scrutiny with a loupe. Excellent overall.
