Description

This is a rare chance to acquire a superb, high quality 22ct gold Edwardian fringe necklace from the c1910 era. As soon as you look at this fabulous necklace, that 22ct gold sings out to you in its wonderful richness of colour and, along with the vibrant Cadbury purple of the Siberian amethysts- well, it is not often at all you see a piece like this, in such pleasing condition too. 18 stones in all so this may resonate with a special birthday for someone perhaps.

The fringe design is beautiful, with 7 round, faceted amethysts in fine mille grain settings connected by knife-edge solid gold links along the chain. The central drop features a 6-petalled flower of oval faceted stones, which is suspended from the central amethyst on the chain via two gold links. A pair of leaves sits above the flower drop.  To either side there are 2 smaller drops, again suspended by solid gold knife-edge links and featuring a pair of leaves followed by pear-shaped amethysts this time.

I love the mixture of bezel settings and claw settings in this necklace and again, it highlights that it is a very well-considered and executed piece of jewellery. The stones are all open-backed, which allows that depth of the Royal purple colour to really show itself. In excellent condition, no marks but tested as approx 22ct gold. Stones are all in lovely condition too. It is an Edwardian sized chain and so you may wish to get a small extender chain attached by your jeweller if you need a bit more space. That is quite typical for these antique pieces. The length of the chain is a touch over 36cm (14.25 inches). The central drop is approx 4cm in height.

I shall send by complimentary courier internationally or else by complimentary Special Delivery within the UK. I will provide a new necklace presentation box as the box in the images is not included. Thank you.
