This is such an eye-catching, antique cruciform statement pendant, which has a tiny little French silver punch on the verso, near the bottom of the pendant, as well as one on the ring near the bale. I think it dates from the 1910-1920 era and I find the purple “stones” so captivating. It is not often I am puzzled….I was told they were purple garnets with a covering over them as you would get with triplet opals, for example. They look endlessly deep when you gaze into them and I did wonder if they were foiled. Whatever, they are vibrantly purple and in excellent condition.
I adore the way there are two fluted-set smaller stones flanking each larger stone. It is a fabulous open work design, which also has marcasites dotted all the way along the perimeter of the pendant. The large bale is also matching, having been studded with marcasites down its length.

All stones are present and correct, which is lovely. The listing is for the pendant only, although I am sure it would accommodate a number of different types of chains easily.
The pendant is large at approx 7.4cm in height (including the bale).

I shall send in a new gift box by complimentary tracked and signed postage. (Boxes in the images are for display only). Thank you.
