A divine Art Deco textured mesh wrap bracelet in stamped 18ct white gold with the most astonishing jewelled detailing, featuring a stunning, impressive cushion cut green tourmaline and diamond foliate detailing wrapped around it, with a mixture of round-cut and marquise-cut diamonds. This lovely bracelet exudes the Art Deco, not least because of the use of a striking green stone as its central point. It may well be an Asprey of London piece (see next paragraph). Asprey has the Royal warrant and make jewellery for Europe’s Royal families, as well as other prestigious clients.
The bracelet mesh work is so impressive, looking as bricks on the verso but the design on the front is so textured, hand-etched and complex. At each end of the bracelet, there is a section which is also done by hand in such a labour-intensive way. Tiny little etched detailing where the tongue and invisible box clasp attach. The original flip over safety clip is still present, which just gives you additional peace of mind when wearing this fabulous thing. It is fully stamped with the maker’s mark, which I believe to be JW & F Thomas of New Bond Street, London, who were active in the 1930s. It came to me in a vintage Asprey 153 Fenchurch St EC3 red tooled bracelet box. Asprey at one point also had a shop on New Bond Street, so I am assuming that Thomas may well have created some pieces under instruction by Asprey.
The bracelet is not adjustable and is supposed to be worn as a watch would fit, ie, no or not much slack. It measures approx 16.5cm (6.5 inches)-please check it will fit, as they made jewellery in more petite sizes in those days. It is a good-sized statement and the bracelet measures approx 1.1cm wide (wider on the detailed section). A sensational bracelet, which will really light up someone’s face.
In pleasing condition, with only light wear for a piece of this age. All stones are perfect. I think she has spent much time boxed.
