Arts and Crafts c1920 foliate brooch in silver and with vivid apple green chrysoprase stone

A bright and attractive Arts and Crafts / Austro-Hungarian brooch, c1920s

1 in stock

A lovely antique Arts and Crafts brooch, which shows an overlap between Arts and Crafts and Austro Hungarian design ideals. I have sold a few very similar brooches in the past by Sibyl Dunlop. They also had these swirls and foliate scrolls. and this piece is reminiscent of them. The large sugarloaf chrysoprase cabochon in the centre is elevated in a high setting -such an unusual touch and I feel it is almost a nod to the Art Deco, hence the 1920s timeline for the piece.

The greens are vibrant from these stones, the round ones are pastes and all are set carefully in their individually hand-crafted millegrain settings. Ropework detailing is present at the base of the round stones’ settings.

The brooch measures approx 3cm in diameter. It has an old-fashioned rollover clasp. In excellent order with all stones being clean and undamaged. She is ready to brighten up any outfit.

I shall send in a new gift box by tracked and signed delivery. The boxes in the images are for display only-thank you.
