Description

This is a lovely hand-crafted design created by Bernard Instone in the 1920s era. The brooch is featured on page 169 in the book about the designer “Bernard Instone Designer and craftsman: the art of a jeweller” by Tracy Henriksen.

At the centre of this pretty brooch is a large faceted rock crystal, which bounces the light around easily. It has been bezel-set in its own finely mille grained setting which is open-backed. Naturalistic tendrils and hand-tooled leaves of two kinds work their way around the stone in a halo. The long hand-tooled draping leaves we see in Instone’s work are here, alongside the stockier simple split leaves with the central vein. I love the organic cluster of berries at either side of the brooch too.

The brooch is in pleasing condition with the stone being in excellent condition too. There is the original simple C clasp to the verso. No marks but confirmed as a 1920s-1930 Bernard piece. It measures approx 6.6cm long and the rock crystal measures approx 1.6cm by 1.2cm. It is a bright, luminous piece of work, especially with that fabulous rock crystal.

I will send to you in a new gift box (not the box in the images, which is for display only) by Special Delivery within the UK or else by International Tracked and Signed. Thank you.
