Such a scarce design by Bernard Instone and with fire opals too, c1930-what is not to love! The ring is a documented book piece, featuring on p128 of Tracy Henriksen’s book “Bernard Instone Designer and craftsman: the art of a jeweller”. What a wonderful ring to find and with fire opals, which certainly weren’t used often at all by Bernard. The resulting orange and yellow glow from the combination of stones is such a triumph.
A large, statement ring, it is shaped ergonomically to “hug” your finger with the central panel in such a comfortable way. The two fire opals and the two citrines are set with four claws each. The sterling silver ring is covered with hand-tooled leaves and tiny little tendrils. I love how the leaves drape down each side onto the shoulder area too. If you would like to wear a impressive and very noticeable statement Arts and Crafts ring, then this is your girl. Rare, beautiful and in such joyful colours.
The face of the ring measures approx 2.4cm in length. She fits the width of my finger and is such a lovely thing to look at. UK size M (US approx 6.25). In excellent order both silver work and stones. She has clearly been well looked after. Some patina you may wish to clean.
I will send in a new ring box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary courier internationally or else Special Delivery within the UK. Thank you.
