Description
This is an attractive hand-crafted design from the c1900 era, crafted by Jean Bassett and passed down by descent to her family (I have a few other Jean Bassett pieces and they are all one-offs and rare so please do take a look) and which features an arrangement of lovely, small leaves and clusters of berries on the main pendant. These are beautifully distinctive leaves, clustered around the main structure of circular sections. Wonderful to see that the designer has the leaves decorating the verso too- such a super detail. Single silver balls and clusters are interspersed throughout the arrangement of the leaves.
The pairing of silver and mother-of-pearl is such an elegant and attractive one and the open work design of the form on this pendant, allows this piece to really breathe. I particularly love the tiny silver berry cluster spacer links, positioned at the start of the chain above the pendant. There is definitely a Gaskin influence in those pretty little links.
It retains its original fine silver chain, although there has been a catch replacement at some point in its history. The pendant measures approx 4cm in height and the chain is approx 48cm (19 inches) long. It is a perfect little necklace without being too clunky or loud in design- just very organic and oh so pretty.
I shall send in a new gift box (box in the images is for display). Complimentary special delivery within the UK and complimentary Tracked and Signed internationally. Thank you.
