Description
A beautiful hand-crafted piece of English Arts and Crafts jewellery from the c1900 era crafted by Jean Bassett and passed down by descent to her family. (I have a few other Jean Bassett pieces and they are all one-offs and rare so please do take a look). It has the same tiny leaves’ design to either side that you can see on some of the necklaces I acquired with it (listed separately). Delicate and careful work, I adore the rope work twist wire forming the outer structure to the brooch.
The same wire forma areas to either side of the stunning agate stone, where clusters of these tiny leaves sit, alongside single silver balls and groups of balls. This is a unique piece and all the more eye-catching because of the large rounded red and brown interesting agate that has been used as the centrepiece. It is a beautiful piece.
It measures approx 5cm by 3.6cm and is in superb condition, both the silver work and the stone.
I shall send in a new gift box by tracked and signed post. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
