Description

This is a rare and beautiful piece of English Arts and Crafts jewellery, c1900 attributed to Liberty & Co of London, which was most likely made by William Hair Haseler. I have seen this type of Liberty design before, however, this is the first time I have seen it with those links decorated with gold forget-me-not flowers and the three moonstones details on the main chain. Between the highly adularescent blue moonstones and those flashes of gold-this necklace is elevated to a rather wonderful level.

The moonstones shimmer blue easily and I adore how each has been carefully cossetted in its own silver bezel setting. All hand-crafted, right down to the silver open work details on the pendant drop. This is such an attractive design…the way the shield-shaped plaque of the main moonstone section is suspended by that elongated, almost figure of eight-shaped link. That too, is reflected in the two spacers above it, which separate the three moonstones in the central part of the pendant.

Everything is so well executed on this lovely negligee drop necklace. There is such a sense of balance and I feel that the drop has been calculated perfectly. Long enough to draw your eye down, as well as creating the pendulous movement when you move.

The pendant measures approx 5.8cm in height, from the top central moonstone to the tip of the drop. The chain measures approx 45cm (17.75 inches). No marks as was typical for many of the pieces from this era but the stones and silver have been tested. Some patina remains so it would polish more if that is your wish.

I will package carefully and post with Special Delivery or else International express courier. The box in the images is not included but I will package in a new necklace presentation gift box. Thank you!
