Description

An exceptional pair of fine quality, gold c1900 antique drop earrings, which are pleasingly signed as Murrle Bennett creations, carrying the maker’s mark. They are wonderful, wonderful things in super order, with their original screw back fittings. Rare pieces to find these days.

The pink from these almandine garnets is really something else….three graduated stones on each earring, all faceted to allow for maximum sparkle of those delicious pink stones. I adore the fact that there is a stone set on the lobe and then a suspended section below it, starting with a pair of double leaves in gold set with tiny pearls. There are then two graduated almandine garnets, culminating with the largest at the bottom of the drop. Amazing how these have been set in precisely worked mille grain settings.
The quality is obvious.
Each pair of leaves is also slightly on angle so you can see a definite left and a definite right earring. Stamped with the old English Edwardian mark “9CT” and also with the maker’s mark for MB&Co on the flat end of the screw back fittings. In excellent condition with not a nibble nor a scratch-clearly well-cared for.

Sensational and rare MB earrings which are a superb shade of pink – who doesn’t love almandine garnets. Each earring measures approx 2.1cm in height.

These beautiful things will make a welcome addition to someone’s antique jewellery collection.

I shall post in the box in the images…it is not antique but it is a lovely, hexagonal jeweller’s box.. Thank you. Special delivery within the UK and by express courier internationally.
