A beautiful, eye-catching antique Arts and Crafts pendant, hand-crafted in a three section, articulated design, very much in the Birmingham School of design, c1910. The green paste has been foiled, so it is such a vibrant peridot colour. Pleasingly, the necklace retains its original chain and hand-crafted toggle fastener. A wonderful design too.

At the top of the pendant section, we have a bezel set paste, with wonderfully precise rope work detailing running half way down the bezel. The main open work section has these lovely flattened silver bow constructions, punctuated by a ball and a loop. Again, the central paste has a rope work detailing half way down the bezel collar. A small triangle of tiny silver balls is placed above the main stone, reflected by a larger triangle of silver balls beneath it. I recognise this motif-was it Blackband I wonder where I saw it before? I would say a Birmingham School designer anyway. The final drop features a further oval paste with rope work, and those three distinctive tiny balls at the key Cardinal points. All underlining the Birmingham School heritage of the piece, in my opinion.

The pendant drop measures approx 6cm and the wearable length of the necklace is approx 46cm (18 inches). In pleasing condition- inevitably some wear to the foils beneath the pastes. People don’t always realise that they should clean / polish closed-back stones (particularly with foils) with care.

A gorgeous, vibrant antique necklace, which I will package carefully in a new gift box. Complimentary tracked and signed post is included. Thank you.
