A lovely hand-crafted Dorrie Nossiter Arts and Crafts brooch in mixed blue gemstones from the c1930 era and showing the swirls and tiny balls that we often see in Dorrie’s work.
I love the way that the stones and silver details are always clustered together in this Dorrie design. Here we have three graduated oval cabochons of Swiss Lapis and two round cabochons of the same…all are bezel set. Three tiny turquoise stones (also set in their own bezel settings) are interspersed strategically in the design to lift the overall colour theme. Silver swirls and coils. along with individual silver balls and grouped balls complete this ornate design. If you love blues then this is a gem of a piece to wear.
All stones are in excellent condition and the brooch is ready to wear. It has had a clasp replacement at some point in her life which is very sturdy and secure and there is a tiny bit of solder visible on the reverse where the catch was attached. This pretty Dorrie brooch measures approx 6.2cm in length by approx 2.5cm wide. I shall send in a new gift box (not the box in the images) and send by complimentary tracked and signed post.
