Description

NOW RESERVED – thank you***************************************************

A lovely example of the work of Dorrie Nossiter c1930, which includes her instantly recognisable hand-tooled leaves, as well as tendrils, spirals and silver balls. Dorrie was one of the leading exponents of the so-called “second wave” of Arts and Crafts designers and craftspeople. Her work is sought-after and highly recognisable as she used many gemstones in her pieces to give a higely opulent effect. The colour palette of her gem selection was sublime and here we see pale blues anchored by those marvellous blue-to-green turquoise cabochons- a treasure of a piece!

The pale blue stones are a mix of moonstone cabochons and faceted zircons and topaz stones. The stones are graduated in size and are open-backed to help lift that light, sparkly nature of the stones. Four turquoise cabochons of various shapes and sizes complete this gem fest. Lots of hand worked detailing as you would expect from Dorrie, in single silver balls and clusters of balls, alongside the usual sinuous tendrils and coils. Two of her very distinctive leaves are draped across the design. A beautiful jewel indeed!

The brooch measures approx 4cm in diameter and makes a fabulous statement when worn. In pleasing condition with a little wear to some of the facets as you would expect for her age. I shall send in a new gift box by complimentary Special Delivery in the UK or else by express courier internationally. Boxes in the images are for display only-thank you.
