Description

A scarce and wonderfully fine piece of Artificers’ Guild jewellery, which is firmly attributed to Edward Spencer, c1905. Executed throughout by hand and in solid high carat gold, this is rather a special piece of antique jewellery. Intricate and precise detailing in the open work gold panels and the opals are set spectacularly in their own closed-back settings- please do look at the beauty of the verso too. The 9 opals are exquisite, as is the opal-set box catch. The bracelet sits in its own fitted Tadema Gallery box, which features a stand so you can display this beautiful bracelet on your dresser. Tadema Gallery is a prestigious gallery in London, selling only the finest antique pieces of design by important designers. I believe this was purchased from the gallery for approx £4,500 in c2010.

It is extremely rare to find such a piece crafted in high carat gold throughout, as most pieces by the Guild were crafted in silver. Such a special bracelet, it consists of 8 graduated oval opals (plus a ninth in the clasp), with a blue base but flashing other colours too. You can imagine how stunning each opal looks with its own buttery yellow high-carat setting. The typical rope work detailing sits at the base of each setting. Fabulous, to say the least.

The gold, hand-crafted panels in an open work design and dotted by tiny gold balls (in true Artificers’ Guild style) are in an attractive twisted design which is so very lovely. The box clasp is set with a matching round opal, along with the rope work and tiny balls detailing, in sync with the rest of the bracelet. The tongue is high carat gold too and there is a small safety chain you can clip onto a link for extra security when you wear this exquisite bracelet.

The colours are sublime and when you wear this in the sunshine-well, you should see it glitter and dazzle. Such a very special thing. The bracelet measures approx 19.6cm (7.75 inches) in length and is approx 1.1cm in width.

I shall send, along with her opulent box, by Special Delivery within the UK or else by Express courier internationally. Thank you.
