What a beautifully proportioned Edwardian c1910 negligee necklace, based on a flower design with those two “Toi et Moi” drops. Crafted throughout in 9ct yellow gold, it has also been fitted with a 9ct gold extender chain and barrel clasp, with extra safety arm for added security when she is worn. The juicy red garnets are beautiful and the combination with the creaminess of the natural seed pearls is truly eye-catching.
I love the curved “trapeze” structure at the top of the pendant, where the chains attach. It suspends the flower section with its oval jammy red garnet, beautifully bezel-set. Eight natural seed pearls sit in a petal arrangement in a halo around the central stone. It has a lightness to it it, design-wise and I think the use of space between each “pearl petal” opens up the pendant somewhat. I love the two knife-edge old links that suspend the oval garnet drops at the bottom of the pendant. This really does encompass the Toi et Moi idea, as well as having the negligee reference.
The extender part of the chain is excellent, as it gives a little more length to the piece and I love the sturdy barrel clasp with security feature too. It is just a lovely thing!
The pendant section measures approx 4.8cm in height and the length of the chain is approx 45cm (17.25 inches) in length.
In pleasing condition- some age-related patina, so would polish further if that is what you desire. I shall send in a new necklace presentation box by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by international express courier. Boxes in the images are for display only. Thank you.
