Description
This is a joy of a 1920s piece- an antique dress clip, which can of course be utilised as a pendant too, in fine materials. The pink, green and white stones are set in silver and the whole of the verso, both frame and clip section is hand-crafted throughout in gold. Some geometric lines and designs add to the very Art Deco feel of the clip.
In some touches, it is reminiscent of the Arts and Crafts designers, such as Edith Linnell-especially the way the frame of the clip has been created-very Linnell. I love that the whole verso is crafted in gold, adding to the feel of this being a special piece. The clip arm is also in gold. The stones range from pink tourmalines, to topaz to peridot and the main stone is a paste. This is another hint at Arts and Crafts work, as the importance was to get exactly the right colour-whether that meant using natural or man-made stones. This is an exquisite piece with all stones being present and correct.
It measures approx 4cm by 2.4cm and is unmarked (as you may expect from the era) but stones and metals are tested. A gorgeous, glamorous and petite piece of exciting Art Deco design with those opulent touches you just don’t find on many clips at all. I will send in a new gift box (box in images is for display only) and by complimentary tracked and signed. Thank you.
