Description

A beautiful c1910 French, filigree panels Drapery necklace in 18ct gold, which really is so eye-catching. These Drapery necklaces were so-called as they were supposed to drape like fabric, like silk,  across your collarbone area. This one is a lovely earlier example, showing filigree sections on each shield form. It is elevated further by the alternate use of both white and yellow golds. These Drapery necklaces are particularly sought after, so it is lovely to have a stamped 18ct French example.

Stamped clearly with the eagle’s head for 18ct gold (France) this necklace has five graduated shield panels. I adore the cut-out design, as it enhances the shapes so much. The panels are exquisitely executed and I love the different end panels, showing bold lines. The chain up to the catch is a sort of gold paperclip chain-very pretty indeed. It is stamped near the catch with the French standard mark for 18ct gold, with another tiny mark, probably being that of the maker.

The central panel measures approx 1.7cm in height and the wearable length of the chain is approx 42cm (16.5 inches). The necklace catches the light beautifully so will light up your collarbone area so well.

Please note that I will send in a new necklace box in which to keep her safe, as the box in the images is for display only. Complimentary Special Delivery post within the UK is included, as is courier to international destinations. Thank you.
