This sweet Georgian gem from the 1800s is in such a lovely form, of a dense and detailed flower set with lively, foiled pinky red flat-cut garnets Such a beautiful locket design with a crystal glass covering the finely woven hair of a loved one beneath it and all set in gold, most likely 9 to 10ct. I do not wish to acid test in case I damage these remarkable stones. It has clearly been well cared for as it is in pleasing condition.
The design is a loose flower form and with the potent red colours of the stones-it would make a fabulous Valentine’s treat for someone’s lapel. Ten circular, flat-cut garnets that reflect the light beautifully, particularly since they are foil-backed. In those typical cut-down and pinched Georgian settings. No damage to the stones which is lovely too. A very attractive authentic Georgian jewel in gold.
The brooch is approx 2.7cm wide by approx 2.2cm in height. All stones are in lovely condition, as said-she has been a cosseted jewel. I will send in a new gift box to protect her well.
