Description

Firmly attributed to Georgie Gaskin, this beautiful c1905 Arts and Crafts necklace shows so many typical features used in the Gaskin’s work. For example the three-sectioned main pendant, the matching rock crystal spacers and the beautifully crafted fastener, which is rather unusual.

There is such an ethereal quality and lightness to this design, mainly due to the combination of its open work structure, formed with coils, and also the use of foiled rock crystal cabochons, adding the extra sparkle. The use of a colourless gem heightens the focus on the overall form of the necklace. I adore that all of the stones set into the piece are tear-drop shaped, even the tiny ones. Such simplicity and yet, such a statement. I have seen a very similar necklace to this in one of the editions of the Studio magazine, which featured the work of top designers of the era.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire a lovely, sparkling Gaskins’ piece on quite a long chain. The pendant section measures approx 4.3cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 71cm (28 inches). In pleasing condition.

I shall send in a new gift box as the box in the images is for display only. Complimentary special delivery within the UK or else express courier internationally.
