A gorgeous English Arts and Crafts necklace and so very wearable, being on a necklace length original chain, rather than with a long, sautoir chain. It is complete with its original hand-crafted toggle fastener. A delicious Dorrie Nossiter piece crafted by her c1930 in silver with touches of gold and those wonderful, wonderful mixed gems we associate with her work. There is a glorious selection of citrines, including the tear-drop citrine, which forms the final drop of the necklace.
The design is wonderful, with the main pendant section being set with a typical Dorrie leaf and an arrangement of gold spirals, gold balls, faceted citrines, pearl, a carnelian and a peridot. The colours express a clarity and completeness of design, all so carefully considered. This darling piece celebrates the sunny nature of citrines and I love it! It is also a perfect size for daytime wear, not too large and clunky-a very sleek and elegant necklace.
The tear-drop shaped citrine has been faceted so beautifully with dozens of facets catching the light and playing with it. This is a light hearted and joyful piece of jewellery and a super example of Dorrie’s work. It is in wonderful condition and all-original. The pendant drop height is approx 8.4cm and the size of the main citrine stone is approx 3.1cm by 2cm. When I tried it on the end of the citrine drop just rested at the top of my cleavage line. A useful length indeed.
