Description
This is an incredible, hand-crafted pendant necklace firmly attributed to H G Murphy from the early decades of the twentieth century. His work is always so finely executed and this impressive necklace indicates that careful and precise hands have crafted her. Every leaf hand-wrought and fused in place to make these beautiful sweeping branches arrangements. Every last detail has been considered, right down the hand-wrought chain and original toggle fastener.
The pendant centres around the large lapis stone in its fabulous setting (see image of verso), with round moonstones set at the cardinal points. The distinctive leaves sweep to both sides from underneath each moonstone and there are also the typical tiny silver balls dotting the design in various places.
The matching hand-crafted chain uses two different links; one is a four leaf design dotted with a central ball and the other is an elongated oval nipped together at the centre and studded with a silver ball. A pair of round moonstone spacers appear after a few links on the main chain. The original toggle fastener remains. The work and care that has gone into this amazing piece of jewellery is evident to see, especially when you consider the craftsperson’s work visible on the verso.
A rare gem of a piece, including her matching original chain and with lovely blue stones and heavenly foliate work.
The pendant measures approx 6cm in height and the wearable length of the chain is approx 49.5cm (19.5 inches). In excellent order throughout.
I shall send in a new gift box by special delivery within the UK or else by express courier internationally. Box in images are not included, thank you.
