RESERVED FOR T ONLY – thank you.
A particularly attractive Jugendstil design, c1900 which features the head of a maiden, complete with adornments in her headband. Fairly Secessionist in style too. Clearly one of the wonderful makers in Pforzheim in that era. A quality piece with sumptuous detailing, most likely made for the British market.
The maiden has her eyes closed, as if in sleep and she wears head ornamentation, featuring four sparkling pastes. There is a blue enamel halo around her head, which is studded with three more pastes. Her hair is long and she is washed with gold. There is an organic framework structure, with those sinuous Art Nouveau lines…it splits at the top and there is an arc of square enamel sections in purple and in green. These look wonderful juxtaposed to the blue enamel.
A single natural baroque pearl suspends under the main part of the pendant. The original double chains are still attached. The pendant is in pleasing condition with such fine detailing. It measures approx 5.7cm in height from the top of the double chain to the bottom of the pearl. The pendant is stamped STERLING with hand etched markings “R / -”
The wearable length of the accompanying silver chain is approx 51cm (20 inches). It is stamped STERLING too
