This is such a beautiful, eye catching, hand-crafted necklace from the c1900 era, in all-original condition, including its original chain and barrel fastener, as well as antique safety chain, which you really don’t often find. Such a sumptuous statement of love, with the bright green foiled enamel heart, focussing your eye on the large bezel set blister pearl set within the heart. It was acquired in Glasgow so may well be a Scottish piece.
The teardrop-shaped blister pearl drop completes the balance of the pendant beautifully. It is romantic and I love that the colour is this vibrant grass, green as it looks so fresh and so pure against the creamy white of the blister pearls. Fabulous!
It is on its long, original chain and when you glance at the photos, the actual length is when it sits pretty much at the base of the mannequin, as you will see. This means it hangs under your bust level, quite typically for Arts and Crafts pieces of the 1900 era. The pendant measures approx 6cm in height and the silver chain measures approx 71.5cm (28 inches). In excellent condition- the enamel is in “as created” condition and along one or two edges you see that the enamel does not reach right to the edge. This is a typical occurrence during firing and has not been caused by damage. It really is in super condition and all-original.
A beautiful necklace and such a rarity. I shall package her in a new gift box and send by tracked and signed post. Boxes in the images are not included. Thank you.
