Description
Such a wonderful flower cluster design with a difference on this sweet antique gold and garnet ring. It seems to be a Victorian design but may be a little later than that. Whilst not being completely flat-cut garnets, they are quite close to it and sit well inside their mille grain bezel settings. This means the ring is flat to the finger and no claws to snag on clothes,. Beautiful and comfortable, with a face large enough to impress.
There are 9 jammy red garnets in all, with a total weight of just over 2 carats. There is a large round central stone with a stone nearly as large, situated at the N and S positions. To either side is a row of 3 smaller garnets. I love that 9 marks both the beginning and the end of cycles, so is considered an auspicious number in numerology. I love that this is not a simple round flower cluster, which is more usually seen, but that those three large stones elongate the ring, which is more flattering on the finger in my opinion.
The gold band splits into two at the shoulders on each side and the shank is decorated nearly all the way around the band. There are the remnants of a numerical mark, rubbed and also a hand etched jeweller’s number “1833” which may have either been the design number or else the commission number. The gold has tested as 9ct yellow gold and the garnets are also confirmed.
The ring measures as approx UK size P.5 (approx US size 8). There is light wear to the stones in keeping with her age but nothing more significant. Ready to wear or else to gift.
I will send the ring in a new gift box. The boxes in the images are for display only. I shall send by complimentary special delivery within the UK or else by international tracked and signed. Thank you.
