A fabulous and rare Murrle Bennett 15ct gold Art Nouveau design c1900/1905,which is such a design statement with the horizontal lines and the typically Art Nouveau heart motifs on either side. Most likely retailed at Liberty & Co in London. Pleasingly, it is also clearly signed with both the “15CT” and the MBo maker’s mark. I am also including the lovely antique box with silk and blue velvet interior. I believe it may be original to the brooch.
A sumptuous design in 15ct yellow gold which features a lively domed oval opal cabochon in the centre of the brooch. It ranges in colour from pale turquoise to green flashes on the right side and a glowing red to orange on the left of the stone. It is in excellent order so has clearly been well cared for. I love the way the brooch curves from the centre to the hearts and seed pearls elements. A rare design, which I have not yet come across before and just a beautiful thing-all nested in a box which is perfect for it. A wonderful gift for some lucky recipient.
The brooch measures approx 4.5cm across, including the tip of the pin, which has also been crafted in gold. I will send in her original box by complimentary tracked and signed mail. Thank you.
