Description

A beautiful, fully signed London 1904 pendant necklace in the Arts and Crafts tradition, with clear maker’s mark for Omar Ramsden and Alwyn Carr. These special pieces are always particularly sought-after. This is only the 3rd similar example with these peacock-coloured enamels that I have come across; one of them is actually an exhibit with the Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery.

This beautiful Celtic design, has a knotted section at the base of the design and sinuous, organic lines sweeping over the rest of the silver structure. The vibrant turquoise and greens of the abstract enamel panel are so eye-catching and I can’t help thinking they represent the land and the sea in their striking colourway. The hand-crafted and original silver chain currently has a short extender attached, just to allow a lengthening of the original 14 inches to a more flexible 17.5 inches -approx 44.5cm. Much more wearable for many of us.

The pendant section measures approx 3.7cm in height. The “RN&CR” maker’s mark is clear, as is the UK hallmark for London 1904. In pleasing condition- my enamel specialist stabilised the enamel for me as there had been a tiny, little damage near the top. However, their work is superlative and you simply cannot see the masterful work they did to restore this beautiful thing fully. Some patina on the silver remains so if you wish to polish further, that is up to you.

An attractive piece of English Arts and Crafts design by a hugely sought-after maker. I shall send in a new gift box as the boxes in the images are for display only. Complimentary Special Delivery within the UK or else express courier internationally. Ref:cpw
