Description
What wonderful things! A matching, opposing pair of Arts and Crafts gem-laden dress clips by the great Dorrie Nossiter, late 1920s to 1930 era. The way Dorrie worked with stones and the nuances of colours is astonishing. In this rare pair of fan-shaped clips, we have colours that look superb together; the pink hues of the garnets are sumptuous set with the turquoise cabochons and also the creamy white pearls. The result is a complete, wearable work of art, crafted by hand.
Every stone is nestled in Dorrie’s typically numerous tiny claws. The main structures of the clips are in sterling silver but, as is usual for Dorrie, she has set gold balls in strategic places between the stones-elevating the richness of design even further. They are both in pleasing order, with the clip mechanisms snapping tightly shut. These lovely clips can be worn singly or set together to make a larger statement. They can be worn to add a glamorous and colourful touch to your jacket, dress or they even work as lapel clips. They are such versatile pieces. To me they resemble wings, butterflies and even a bow, when you set them near each other.
A beautiful palette of colours, which is a joy to the eyes. Each clip measures approx 3cm each side. In pleasing condition.
Postage is with International courier or else Special Delivery within the UK. I will provide a new gift box to keep them safe, as the box in the images is for display only. Thank you!
