Description

A very rare design and example of the Arts and Crafts / Art Nouveau necklaces c1900 created by Murrle Bennett, the Anglo German company, who mainly sold through Liberty & Co of London. This is a beautiful find, as it ticks so many boxes. In immaculate original condition, stones all perfect (with natural inclusions), original chains, original toggle fastener and fully signed as Murrle Bennett piece with clear MBo and 950 stamps.

A wonderful necklace, which is both heavy and squat when you hold it, as these plain 950 silver plaques are a little thicker than the more usually seen hammered plaques. The typical MB faux rivets are there too, appearing on each of those panels, firmly rooting the design to the 1905ish era.
I love the three sectioned main pendant that has articulation. To find three matching stone-set spacer plaques to the side of both sides of the main pendant is so lovely. These multi-plaque examples do not come along often at all.

It is such a fabulous necklace by very sought after makers and is worthy of being a museum piece.

The pendant drop measures approx 5.3cm and the wearable length of the chain is approx 46.5cm (18.25 inches). Fully stamped with both “MBo” and “950” on the verso. In excellent condition.
