Description

A magnificent early Sibyl Dunlop Arts and Crafts pendant, dating from the late 1920s to early 1930s era. I have always loved chrysoprase with silver and this is possibly one of the most attractive designs I have seen combining the two elements. The apple green chrysoprase catches the light well and the cut on the stones is really sublime, especially on the elongated drop….wow!

Such a lovely, gothic sort of design, which I have seen on one or two other pieces by Sibyl. The square cut chrysoprase stones in the four corners and that larger one in the centre, are set by hand with a fine mille grain finish. Sibyl used the best lapidaries in  Europe and you see immediately how it elevates the quality of a piece of jewellery. The elongated diamond drop is impressive and counter balances the chrysoprase details in the top section of the pendant. Sublime!

A hand crafted, large bale studded with a silver ball, completes the pendant. The verso is fabulously smooth, like other similar pieces of her work. It is quite a large pendant and measures approx 8.4cm in height so it makes a lovely statement. The listing is for the pendant only, so the fine chain I have used to demonstrate it in some of the images, is not included.

I shall send with tracked and signed post in a new gift box (any boxes in the images are not included)-thank you.
