Description
A beautifully attractive piece of quality antique jewellery in the Arts and Crafts taste, firmly attributed to the Artificers’ Guild, England c1905. It is rare to find an example such as this, hand crafted throughout in 18ct buttery yellow gold. Such intricate and fine detailing by some of the best in the business in that era, this is a gorgeous piece. Even the toggle and twisted rope circular clasp is made by hand-just wonderful!
I love that this fine necklace is of tasteful and delicate proportions, meaning that it can be worn as a daytime piece too, perhaps with a shirt or a t-shirt. Such a striking piece which has three drop sections, each with a quatrefoil element and pearls in their layout. The central drop differs from its neighbours-it has a larger pearl in the quatrefoil panel, which is also attached to the main chain. A fabulous oval link with balls details suspends a beautiful natural baroque pearl. The central drop is approx 2.7cm in height.
The links used as connectors to the drops and all along the chain are petite elongated oval links (hand-crafted of course) and decorated with tiny gold balls-very much in the Artificers’ Guild detailing. The alternate types of links in the chain I have also come across before in another piece by the Guild. It is a lovely length at approx 42cm (16.5 inches)-it will sit elegantly under the throat and be visible for all to admire.
In superb condition-the only thing worth mentioning is that I found 1 tiny ball missing from the decorated front section and 1 in the chain somewhere. I did not consider this worthy of rectifying, for fear the replacement work would not be as fine as the original. Aside from that-pleasing condition indeed and she will please someone very much. Gorgeous thing!
I shall send in a necklace box-boxes in the images are for display only. Special Delivery within the UK is included, or express courier internationally. Thank you. Ref: cpm
