Description
A pretty, statement pendant which I believe to be British. It came to me with some Fahrner and Murrle Bennett items so I suspect it has pedigree. It is c1900 but could almost be a contemporary piece of design too. Beautifully hand crafted, with a large tear drop shaped blister pearl set inside an organic kind of diamond-shaped form.
On each side of the stone is a striking flower design and very unusually, the leaves are represented by hand worked sections of hammered, flattened silver (looks great with the patina!) and these have been inlaid next to the flowers on each side. So very striking and delicate at the same time. The pieces really have been arranged like small pieces of fabric.
The two tiny silver balls, one set on each side of the loop for the bale indicate British. Perhaps a Murrle Bennett designer or for Libertys? No marks so difficult to say other than it is finely hand crafted and a rarity.
It has a small bale so could do with a more substantial one for safety’s sake when wearing it, as it is quite large. It is in excellent condition. Some patina but it would polish further if that is what you prefer. The listing is for the pendant only.
It measures approx 4.5cm in height by approx 4cm wide. A beauty!
